Iarnród Éireann: A Sustainable People Profession for a Sustainable Future.​

The judges commented on the excellent presentation of how the sustainability agenda is driving the Iarnród Éireann business model and workforce strategy into the medium-term future. There was a clear contribution from HR to the business model and future strategy from the start, linked to the CIPD principles. They recognised that capability, skills-set and business operations had to change fundamentally to deliver the national infrastructure for the sustainability agenda.

In managing a modal shift, the HR team monitored the workforce risks and actioned growth opportunities through recruitment, ED&I, health and wellbeing, and progressive IR. There was evidence of a positive trajectory to shift the diversity and skills of their workforce in a tight labour market.
